Reminder of the new regulation 17th May 2024
The new regulation published in May 2024 concerns public buildings and high-rise buildings where the minimum required fire performance for wires and cables will be upgraded from Eca to Cca-s2,d2,a2. New types of LFH solutions will allow to improve fire safety conditions within such critical buildings. The installation standard NF C 15-100 will as well evolve to take into account these new aspects.
Fire safety within buildings:
When does the new regulation apply ?
The provisions apply to projects whose planning permissions are submitted after 23 May 2025.
Nexans will provide a new series of upgraded and high performing cables meeting the new requirements. Cables lie at the heart of a building safety system, choosing the right cables is essential et can contribute to significantly improve safety level within buildings - as a reminder 25% of fires occuring in building in France are caused by faulty electrical systems.
Other components also play a crucial role: wall penetrations fitted with electrical cables and pipes must be sealed with materials that maintain the required fire resistance rating. Various types of sealants exist, it’s essential to select a qualified product, just like for cables.
Nexans and Nuvia tell you all about the new regulation and how best to ensure you select the appropriate solutions to comply with the new safety requirements within buildings.
