The Autun factory, located in Sâone-et-Loire, was created in 1979 to produce cables for the building market. The main ranges manufactured at Autun are H07V-U wires (for housing) and U-1000 R2V cables (for the tertiary sector).

Thanks to this investment, Nexans :

• accelerates the automation and digitalization of the Autun factory to make it a showcase for the Group's transformation towards Industry 4.0 ;
• reinforces its commitment to circularity in the use of recycled materials, in particular with its Lens site, France's only copper smelter and continuous caster ;
• anticipates changes in fire safety standards for commercial buildings, scheduled for 2023, by making its Autun factory a European benchmark in fire safety technology.

The Autun factory will therefore :

• become a European benchmark in fire safety technology ;
• strengthen its capacity to supply cables made from recycled materials ;
• make its site the laboratory for an ambitious Industry 4.0 program.

Simplifying the work of installers

Distingo NX'Tag

Manufactured by Nexans' Autun factory, the U-1000 R2V Distingo NX'Tag cable is designed to make life easier for installers on construction sites. This cable features a white marking space printed directly on the sheath every 50 cm, enabling installers to write directly on the cable instead of using tape or a time-wasting label.

Advantages of this innovation : 

• able to write directly on the cable
• any commercially available pen can be used
• quick drying.

In addition to the marking area printed directly on the cable, the number of conductors, the cross-sectional edge and the metrium are also indicated on the cable sheath. This innovation is faster, more practical and more durable.
