From an industrial wasteland to a photovoltaic park !

Nexans strategic mission is to provide unique innovative cables and accessories solutions which support the world’s electrification and environmental challenges. Here is a good example of actions supporting this mission.
Since 2011, the Nexans plant of Jeumont has had unused industrial wasteland of 16-hectare. This has risen the desire of Nexans and the Jeumont town council to make it available for development. The wasteland will thus become a source of green energy production: no less than 20,000 photovoltaic modules will be installed on 12 hectares to supply electricity to 4 000 inhabitants from June 2023.
This photovoltaic farm project is supported by Nexans and its partner NEOEN, France’s leading independent producer of 100% renewable energy, which will operate the park. Nexans is supporting the project during the clean-up and preparation phase of the land, which will be available for NEOEN in August 2022 to start the installation works of its photovoltaic panels.
It should be noted that the chosen method of depollution is the phyto-degradation, for its respect of the environment.
This project, led by the Nexans Real Estate Department, is at the heart of Nexans’ strategy to support electrification projects

Although we will have to wait until mid-2023 for the start-up of the photovoltaic power plant operated by NEOEN, the first step is done by Nexans and the next ones are well scheduled.
