Nexans adheres to the FRET21 program and commits to reducing its CO2 emissions from transport
Dec 4, 2020Earlier this year, Nexans joined the FRET21 program to reduce its CO2 emissions by at least 5% over the next three years in its transport operation departing from France and Belgium. This partnership is in line with the Group's commitments to contribute to Carbon Neutrality in 2030.
Listen to the explanations of Marie Letailleux, CSR Manager at Nexans.
“ We are very pleased to announce this membership with FRET21. ”
Julien Cintrat
Transport Manager France, Supply Chain departmentThe three main areas of action will encompass the loading rate, mode of transport, and responsible purchasing. The loading rate aims to optimize loading and thus reduce the number of trucks on the road each year. Road-rail transport mode helps neutralize greenhouse gas emissions by leveraging more transport on the rail segment. The result is nearly 100 fewer trucks on the roads each year. Finally, thanks to a responsible purchasing approach, the Group has chosen to work with approved suppliers with CO2 labels.
“ These initiatives carried out by Autun’s transport team hand in hand with the Purchasing Team and the CSR unit are a concrete illustration of the Group's commitment to reducing carbon emission. ”

CSR ManagerFRET21 is a voluntary initiative of the AUTF (Freight Transport Users Association), ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency) and the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition. Its aim is to encourage companies acting as contractors for transport operators to better integrate the impact of transport into their sustainable development strategy.
In this video meet Mr. Alain Willaey, a Nexans’ employee who decided to make a long-lasting difference before retiring from his work with the TMF (Transport Management France) team in Autun Plant.
