Applications

These Instrumentation and communication are used to transmit analogue or digital signals in measurement and process control for fossil power plant. When they are armoured, they are well adapted to underground use in industrial applications where mechanical protection is needed. The individual screening of each pair limits the consequence of crosstalk.

PAS 5308: Solid (class 1), stranded (class 2) or flexible (class 5) bare copper

EN 50288-7: stranded (class 2) bare copper

Insulation:

Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE)

Screen:

Collective: polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, aluminium/polyester tape

Individual and collective:  polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, aluminium/polyester tape + polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, aluminium/polyester tape

Inner sheath:

None or

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

Armour:

None or

Galvanized steel wires (SWA)

Outer sheath:

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
