Applications

These Instrumentation and communication are used to transmit analogue or digital signals in measurement and process control for fossil power plant. When they are armoured, they are well adapted to underground use in industrial applications where mechanical protection is needed. The individual screening of each pair limits the consequence of crosstalk. They maintain circuit integrity when exposed to fire.

PAS 5308: Stranded (class 2) or flexible (class 5) bare copper

EN 50288-7: stranded (class 2) bare copper

Insulation:

Mica tape/XLPE

Screen (armoured version) :

Overall: polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, aluminium/polyester tape

or

Individual and overall:  polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, aluminium/polyester tape + polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, aluminium/polyester tape

Screen (non-armoured version) :

Overall: polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, copper/polyester tape

or

Individual and overall:  polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, aluminium/polyester tape + polyester tape, tinned copper drain wire, copper/polyester tape

Inner sheath:

None or

Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH)

Armour:

Galvanized steel wires (SWA)
